A message before Hurricane Ike hits Houston. Gustav fizzled out, but we're not going to be that lucky this time. I'll be back online as soon as the expected power outage is repaired. Wish us luck!

  • STAY SAFE

  • Thanks punkie, we did just that & stayed home until it was safe to venture out. I'll put together a video soon and tell you all about it.

  • Oh, honey! We just went through THREE (count 'em THREE) tornado WARNINGS here in Lafayette (within a two hour period) tonight due to Ike...and now we're experiencing high winds. We just got over Gustav.

And, of course, no basements here in Southwestern Louisiana - below sea level.

Somebody remind me again why we moved to this Godforsaken hole? At least you're in the fourth largest city in the country. ;-)

Be safe, my friend...I'll be thinking of you.

    Love,

    Lillianne

  • Thanks sweatheart, I guess we live down here because it can be so beautiful. But these things are the price we pay for the beauty of it all. I know what you mean about no basements, they always end up full of water around here too!

  • gosh Mike, I been thinking about all you folks that live that way. I know 3 others in that area. Hunker down, and you're right; can't imagine having to listen to the wind with no power on to be able to drown out the noise w/some tv or something. stay safe.*been thinking about our friend also*

  • We made it through alive & well!! I can't tell you how great it is to have electricity again, I was starting to feel like a pioneer like Daniel Boone - without the hunting dog! I'll send you an update on our buddy soon.

  • The island got hit hard, they're comparing the level of destruction to the 1900 storm. I've only seen a few photos so far, but we just got power back a few hours ago!

  • Thanks. We should have evacuated but circumstances conspired to keep us here. We were luckier than most and had no personal injuries or losses. Somebody up there was watching out for us!

  • Thanks Victor, your prayers are appreciated. I'll post a new video soon.

  • Yes, be glad for that. Hurricanes are no fun!

  • Thanks, we needed and had it!

  • We made it! The door's fine, nothing a fresh coat of paint can't fix.

  • We rode it out safely at home, no damage to the house or ourselves except for the emotional trauma of having life turned upsidedown (is that one word?). I'll post a afer-the-storm video soon. It took a long time to get electrical service restored!
