Produced by the Highway Safety Foundation in 1964. The short serves as a dramatized warning. Production Company: Highway Safety Foundation; Keywords: educational; social issues; criminal. It is estimated that at least two out of every ten girls and one out of every ten boys are sexually abused by the end of their 13th year. To protect all children, we first need to learn the facts. Did you know that most children who are sexually abused, are abused by a family member or close friend? Did you know that "stranger danger," by comparison, is quite rare? Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse in which a child is abused for the sexual gratification of an adult or older adolescent. In addition to direct sexual contact, child sexual abuse also occurs when an adult exposes their genitals to a child, asks or pressures a child to engage in sexual activities, displays pornography to a child, or uses a child to produce child pornography. Effects of child sexual abuse include depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, propensity to re-victimization in adulthood, and physical injury to the child, among other problems. Sexual abuse by a family member is a form of incest, and can result in more serious and long-term psychological trauma, especially in the case of parental incest. Approximately 20% to 25% of women and 5% to 15% of men were sexually abused when they were children. Most sexual abuse offenders are acquainted with their victims; approximately 30% are relatives of the child, most often fathers, uncles or cousins; around 60% are other acquaintances such as friends of the family, babysitters, or neighbors; strangers are the offenders in approximately 10% of child sexual abuse cases. Most child sexual abuse is committed by men; women commit approximately 14% of offenses reported against boys and 6% of offenses reported against girls. Most offenders who abuse pre-pubescent children are pedophiles, however a small percentage do not meet the diagnostic criteria for pedophilia. Under the law, "child sexual abuse" is an umbrella term describing criminal and civil offenses in which an adult engages in sexual activity with a minor or exploits a minor for the purpose of sexual gratification. The American Psychiatric Association states that "children cannot consent to sexual activity with adults", and condemns any such action: "An adult who engages in sexual activity with a child is performing a criminal and immoral act which never can be considered normal or socially acceptable behavior." The child molestor can be anyone. It can be a stranger, a relative, a teacher, a parent, a cousin......regardless of gender, race or social and intellectual status. In fact, out of the cases reported, more often than not, the molestor is someone the child knows rather than a stranger. It is also true that in most cases, the perpetrator are male. However, it is equally wrong for parents to be suspicious of every man that comes near an inch of their children. "A R K ! He is 1/2 yard from my little girl!! Call the police!" Most people are safe with children. There are indicators or signs which hint that a person might be a child molestor. Please note that I use the word hint. It is hard to pinpoint who is and who is not a potential molestor. So, do not jump into conclusions just because you detect a sign or two. He may very well be just a friendly person who loves kids. These are just guidelines and should only, ONLY, be used to show the possibility....maybe he is. It is your signal to take precaution and keep a careful watch.

Thanks for posting this Most important message!
I was told this weekend that some pervert tried to lure my granddaughter into his truck last week. He motioned for her to come over to his truck as he sat across the street from the school. My son picked her up and they went to make a police report. I'm going to that area this week and alert every parent at the school with a flyer. Also several of my associates and me will spend a few days in that town, and maybe find him, you know what I mean!!
