I highly doubt this was meant to be just a "joke". IGN was probably trying to toss the idea out there to see if it would get picked up by a major studio. The trailer is a great teaser. It looks very promising and I'm sure it could be a great movie in the right hands. I love the way Link & Zelda look. They're both perfect for the role. Spielberg is an avid gamer. If he directed this, it would be off-the-charts awesome.

Ganondorf was green in Ocarina of Time.

The commercial meshed several plots for the Zelda games together into one "movie". As for the character of Link, they picked a decent person. Lady Galadria of Lord of the Rings looked more like Zelda than the person they chose to portray her in this commercial. Why is gannondorf green? Other than that, I so would have payed to see the movie because I like all thing LOZ. As for the comment on here that said puzzle solving wouldn't make a great movie, Indianna Jones was a puzzle solving movie.

Umm, no. As a movie this looks dreadfully dull and boring, with lots of filler, and a disjointed plot. It works for Lord of the Rings because there's plenty of characters for everyone to interact with, there's tons of well-written lore that's artfully portrayed throughout it, and there was journey in it that acted as more than "just a quest to accomplish *insert goal here*" and actually meant something on a more human level than simple fantasy.

This movie would bomb if it were made.

A Legend of Zelda movie is by far one of the stupidest ideas one could possibly have, right up there with having a Final Fantasy movie.

In order to make a successful movie like this, it would need 3 things:

1 - Strong character interaction and development (which is completely absent from LoZ)

2 - An interesting and unique setting

    3 - A well written story

The only thing going for the LoZ series for video games is the adventure, puzzle-solving, and fighting. Not exactly grade-A movie qualities.

Why would a movie studio pick of a generic story about a poorly written characters journey to rescue a princess? It's been done before, and far better.
