Zebra Jumping Spider (Salticidae) (Super Macro)

This adolescent spider has some great color on his abdomen. He didn't notice me filming until I shook the camera a little bit.

I have two zebras, but they are just black and white, this one you filmed looks to have a rusty color in it.

@Torn80cj yea, I noticed that. I had a female who was 3x this ones size that was closer to simple black and white like you mentioned. There are so many unique characteristics about these spiders.

@BobCsAll Thanks Bob, I enjoyed your footage as well. There is a large male of another species on the other side of the house I need to record sometime, but he is quite skiddish and hides whenever I get near him. Good luck with with your future findings.

In the spring they were all over my balcony

Now there is one left, and the whole balcony is its territory

it's a mighty hunter. There are carcasses of flies and other spiders stuck to the walls here and there. It climbs up under the balcony above to scan for prey.

Doesn't jump so much now that it's bigger.

@Bliissed This spider is basically harmless. Jumping spiders are known for being curious creatures.
