They were good, but they were no Steely Dan …. SD was and is still the very best and highest quality sample of the 70s and early 80s that you will every hear.

Uh, no. Michael McDonald filled in when Tommy Johnston took ill in '75 (might have been '76). The bad took a different direction through their Farewell Tour in '82. When they re-united for a benefit concert a few years later the fun started happening again and continues today.
