BASIANI - GEORGIA - Turquoise Production

L'ensemble vocal Basiani, qui émane de la chorale de la Cathédrale de la Sainte Trinité de Tbilissi, a été créé en 2000, sous l'égide du patriarcat de Géorgie. Depuis, le groupe a enregistré plusieurs disques et participe à de nombreuses activités menées autour du chant sacré. Son répertoire recouvre aussi bien les chants sacrés émanant des cultes byzantins et syriens, que la musique polyphonique profane. Le choeur est dirigé par Giorgi Donadze, lui-même chanteur et spécialiste de musique polyphonique géorgienne.

The vocal ensemble Basiani, which was founded in 2000 with the support of the Georgian Patriarchat, brings together several musicians from the Choir of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilissi. The group achieved several CD recordings and participated in many activities dedicated to sacred singing. They are actually working on a huge recording project of an antology of Georgian polyphonic singing. Basiani's repertoire includes sacred singing from the old georgian, byzantine and syriac cults, as well as profane songs. The group is under the art direction of Giorgi Donadze, singer himself and specialist of Georgian polyphony.
