One of James Fox's few film appearances between his roles as a child and his breakthrough film as an adult, THE SERVANT, was in TAMAHINE (1963), which starred Nancy Kwan and John Fraser. Kwan plays an island girl who turns an English boys' school upside down, and quite a few heads in the process. Tagline: "She loved the whole student body ... and they sure loved hers!" Note that the school is called Hallow, probably a pun on Harrow, which both James and Edward Fox actually attended.

  • :) It's taboo.

  • @crazytogab Not on my channel it isn't! ;-)

  • LOL, it seems to be a funny film. James is very very young here, :)), I never saw him before The Servant. Thanks for sharing!

  • @MultiCathy1 The film is quite funny. "Some masters are normal" is a surprisingly naughty joke. I wonder if it means "most don't have sex" or "most don't have sex with women", or both. One of the boys is selling pornography at school etc.

  • This is the first time I've seen this film,it's very hard to find. It's interesting to see James Fox during this period ,it shows he can do light comedy as well as drama. Nancy Kwan and James share the same birthday, both were born on May 19,1939.The very recognizable music is by Malcolm Arnold, who also scored some of Olivier's Shakespearan films. Cinematography is by the great Geoffrey Unswoth., BSC.Good job of editing the scenes together.

  • @Mavrilon Well, this movie probably won't go down as the best British comedy every made, but it's certainly true that both Edward and James have a special gift for comedy. Edward likes to cite Garrick who said something about comedy being the true test of an actor's skill.

  • @jennyrotaryexchange1 It's not been released on DVD. It's a recording from TV. Sorry.

  • i have been trying to find the dvd for this!! where did you get this film from? please tell me :) thank you~

  • @MultiCathy1 He didn't do very much before THE SERVANT, and most of it is rare, except for the two films he did as a child, THE MAGNET and THE MINIVER STORY (there are excerpts of both on YT, from the latter one from me). There's also THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER, which also has a running scene at a school. It seems he was cast as the quintessential "public schoolboy".
