Relying on the Search Engines to Automatically Send
Your Website All of Its Traffic Will Sink Your Business...
First, keeping track of what the search engines want to see on your site is extremely difficult. One day, it might be lots of targeted keywords. The next day, it might be something else entirely.
Unless you use a search engine optimization program like SEO Elite or manually track what each of the search engines are looking for on a daily basis, then you won't know how to get your web site to rank well with each of the major search engines.
Second, every search engine uses different things to come up with their rankings. If Google gives a higher ranking for having one factor... then another search engine might ignore or even penalize your web site for having it!
Third, when most people use a search engine to do a search, they won't look past the first page of listings. If they are highly motivated to find what they are looking for, then they might look through two or three pages of listings.
But that's rare.
So unless your web site has a keyword that scores well with a search engine, then it can be very difficult to get listed on the first page.
Fourth, every competitor of yours is also vying for the first page of the search engines. And they are trying to make it for the same keywords that you do.
If you want to rank higher than your competitors than you have to prove that your site is more "worthy" and deserves to be ranked higher. (I'll explain in a few minutes how to become more "worthy".)
If you have too many reciprocal links, then search engines may penalize your site. That's because they feel you just traded links with a lot of other web sites — just to create more incoming web links.
The problem is, no one seems to know how many reciprocal links are too many... and the search engines aren't telling!
How about article submission?
Don't get me wrong — article submission can work very well... but there are two big IF's. IF you enjoy writing articles... IF you know where to submit them... then articles can create additional links pointing to your website. Search engines like seeing useful content that refers to another website, so you could see an increase in web traffic for your efforts.
What about submitting your website manually to each search engine?
You can take the time to submit your web site to every search engine that is available. There are hundreds to choose from and you would spend hours and hours manually filling out submission forms for each search engine.
Of course, it can take up to six months for your web site to show up in a search engine's listings after you have submitted it.
Let's face it: You can't afford to wait six months for the search engines to get around to sending your site some traffic. If your web site is going to make some sales, then you need web site traffic as quickly as possible!
