  • i love jazz, but the nature of any tradition is to reject anything pushing the boundries using its language. most people reject him cause they don't understand the music. he is playing the music that wes montgomery would play today if he was still alive. its vibrant and fresh and for those people who dismiss him?? they don't understand, until 20 years down the track when everyone is playing like him, because he will be the jazz guitar benchmark of our time. have faith

  • The Cross-What a great tune!!! I wish I could see a more complete video of it. Kurt Rosenwinkel's style is hip and totally un-copyable. Dig it, man. Keep it up!!! Come see us in Utah some time.

  • I completely agree... I just had to hear "Use of Light" once.

  • kurt rosenwinkel is a german name. he has german roots. he is professor on a music college in germany now

  • Who dismisses Rosenwinkel? He has totally been innovating for the past 10-15 years! I mean his music is amazing and he's got incredible skill on the guitar. Guitar player's are finally starting to get where he's been sonically years later. He's blazing trails! You must buy his new 2 disc live cd "The Remedy" it's incredible. Probably the best work of his yet.

  • yeah. i like those guys. and i could spend hours listing artists who get rejected by the idioms that have produced them. The way i see it, being out casted by genre Nazis should be taken as a compliment. It means that what is happening is new and fresh...

  • thats all extremely true, except everybody seems to already be kissing Rosenwinkles ass. What about the Bad Plus? thats a group that actually does get rejected by "jazz lovers" who can't see it yet.

  • truer words were never spoken brother

  • great music, great players.

  • Yeah, Im with you all the way, but the thing with Kurt is, even though his influence is most noticable among guitarists, everybody already sound like him, that he is a rarely gifted songwriter. I love Kurt for his improvising, his harmonic vocabulary, for his swing etc but I adore him for his compositions. To me, they are beatiful mysteries, and Kurts greatest strength.

  • 100% agree
