  • @toneshards Sorry, I don't debate over conspiracy theories.

Afghanistan is for the Afghan people. Perhaps being occupied and killed by foreigners while their country stays in a state of perpetual warfare for another decade might not be what's best for them. The notion that US interests mirror those of the people there is silly. It is much more difficult to resolve an internal conflict when there is an occupying power. You lose any internal balance of power and prospects for negotiated settlement. They have no chance to put it behind them.

  • @MillionthUsername And so your solution is to abandon these people to Taliban rule? That solves none of the problems your talking about AND gives us a return to all the problems the Taliban were creating before 9/11.

  • @nothri I'm sure they feel the same way about the US taking control of their country through a puppet regime. That's why they've been fighting for so many years. Meanwhile, billions are wasted and innocent people are killed and have to live in a impoverished war-torn country for decade after decade. And when a US drone kills 80 people in a wedding party, people are driven closer to whoever is opposing the US occupation. People tend not to like it when you kill their friends and family.
