Summer of '69. Just graduated from highschool. Listening to this song
in my car to see my girlfriend. Entered the service a few months later.
Best summer of my life, no school, no work, no worries, just having fun.
Months later, the car died, the girl sent me a dear john letter and I was in boot
camp harassed by a D.I. Now I enjoy the summers with my kids but nothing was
as stress free as the summer of '69.

I was in 5th grade in 1969. This is one song that inspired me to play the trumpet back then. Of course, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass was playing continuously in my home at the time too.

Summer of 69, this song was a hit while I was a junior in HS and my boyfriend was working as life-guard at the pool and once the pool was closed for the day,I remember making out to this song in the pool house. Best summer of my life! I later married him, we grew apart, divorced and he died of a massive heart attack in 2005. Song always makes me think of Chip Woodward. Stayed friends, and I still miss him.

Yeah, and I always thought the same about Bobby Bloom (Montigo Bay) But no, both were white. David Clayton Thomas is from Canada and Blood, Sweat and Tears introduced an entire generation to (white) jazz.
