Mary Robinson
Climate Change and Justice
Barbara Ward Lecture
Chatham House, London
11 December 2006
Mary Robinson, a former President of Ireland and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, calls for policymakers to adopt an approach to climate change that is rooted in the international human rights framework.
"We can no longer think of climate change as an issue where we the rich give charity to the poor to help them cope. Rather, this has now become an issue of global injustice that will need a radically different approach."
"Climate change has already begun to affect the fulfilment of human rights, and our shared human rights framework entitles and empowers developing countries and impoverished communities to claim protection of these rights."

  • A stuck up cow

  • UN High Commisioner on Human Rights - She never did a damn thing about Saddam torturing people, Iran torturing people, Soamlia, Rawanda, the Taliban, Darfur - Sit in her offices and say tsk tsk.... growing fat and rich off the world's misfortune. Talk and talk and do nothing. The most useless twat that has ever walked the earth and people glrify her Pffffftttt

  • Well, Mrs. Robinson had an approval rating of consistently over 90% while she was president of Ireland, I'm sure in no small part because, rather than relax into a comfortable "safe" presidency, she championed the marginalised and those without a political voice. That's in stark contrast to your hopeless and vulgar contribution to her remarks in this video. Her public speaking maybe at a rather stately pace, but her message retains its value.

  • what a pain in the hole this woman was

  • They must speak about a grand deal that would take tobin tax in exchange for doha resolution.

If they don't take this intermediary step, they wont resolve enough poverty and give some boost to individual liberty that they so love.
