That young boy ain't getting no good bites today. From 1969.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen this on YouTube yet. I guess it's because the only copy found has crappy newly added music and sound effects. BTW, while we're on the subject: If there's one thing I hate about what Sesame Street is doing nowadays, it's not Elmo. It's these pointless remakes and updating of classic sketches by adding tasteless sound effects and music. I mean, is it really necessary?

Oh well, hopefully someone will upload the original version of this sketch. But for now, enjoy ...that is if you can.

  • The music does fit the skit nicely, I will say. (ducks to avoid tomatoes)

  • Well, maybe I was being a tad harsh in the description. It's not as bad as other updates to classic sketches. It's just the whole idea of it altogether just ticks me off.

  • The music sounds remastered. Actually, I don't remember any music, just narration.

  • Well, they added the music at a point in time when they were adding music to almost every cartoon segment on the show, that being in the mid '90's. Why? We'll never know.

That's what I meant when I said "Hopefully, someone posts the original version of this segment," in the description. By that, I meant the version with just narration.

  • I too would enjoy it much better without the music. I enjoyed this one very much as a kid (I'm 46 now.)

  • This always left me feeling hungry. What a dimwit I was.

  • mmmmmmm Alphabet soup. =)

Hmm, I always recall that the sounds were there at the first. Maybe I'm getting old.

  • If only someone with connections at the CTW Archives could find the episode where this first appeared...I read on Muppet Wiki that one of the other four test shows had it. (Talk about a long-lived classic...)

  • I have read two comments by people comparing this boy to Charlie Brown! I had not thought of it at first, but now I can see where you guys are coming from!

  • It almost suggests to me that they found no need to keep the original in their archives. Or they lost it somehow.

  • What's worse to me is that this version is the one that stands as a 1969 film, even on the "Old School" DVD.

  • The sound effects were added in the '80s. The music was added around 2000.

  • The music ruined it! Could someone upload this without the music? T_T
