O Direito de Nascer

This story place in Cuba (La Habana and Santiago) in the years 1899 through 1945. The only person to know about the love meetings is Mama Dolores, the family's maid for years and unique person to whom the girl telss her secrets. Both are in dispair because they know that Don Raphael will never accept his grandson Mr. and Mrs. Juncal also start worrying about their daugher manners who is constantly sick. Then she is examined by the doctors's family who discovers
she is pregnant but doesn't reveal anything to the parents. Maria Helena meets Alfredo secretl y ato tell him the news, however, she gets disappointed since he doesn't accept Üie son and even suggests an abortíon. Thus, Maria Helena decides to have the baby anyway. Their parents discover the truth. Don Raphael gets furious and want to know the father's name.

Maria Helena refuses to tell him her lovers's name and because of this her father beats her and curses his own grandson. Mama Dolores and Dona Conceição plead for Maria Helena and her father sends both, the girls and the maid to one of his farms to hide the truth. As soon as the child - Albertinho - is born, Don Raphael orders the servant Bruno to kill him. Dolores run away with him to Santiago. Don Raphael tells her daughter that Dolores had run away with Albertinho. Maria Helena goes back to her house in La Habana, but she is not the
same girl anymore. She is always sad, annoyed, she can't accept what had happened to her. Her parents try to do the best they can to help the girl to forget the past and be happy again. Maria Helena is introduced to Jorge Luís. He owns one of the greatest fortunes in La Habana, and tells him the child's story, Jorge Luís can't accept her past and leaves her.

After 10 years Mama Dolores and albertinho still live in Santiago. Albertinho hás many troubles with the kids at school because Dolores is black, she can't be his mother. Despite of that fact the boy loves Mama Dolores too much and considers her as his real mother. Don Raphael discovers Dolores and Albertinho, só they have to run away again. Now they go to La Habana. Maria Helena is aiready a nun. Still she is very sad and can't forget her son. Albertinho becomes a famous doctor and saves his grandfather's life by donating him his own blood.
Jorge Luís tells the truth of this life.

Maria Helena meets Albertinho and forgives Dolores. The Juncal family is thankful to Albertinho forever. Don Raphael knows the true about Albertinho and asks his daughter to forgive him.Jorge Luis asks Maria Helena to marry him.
