Mirror slap has nothing to do with the ability to hand hold shots at any speed. In fact a meaty hand will dampen the shot better than a tripod would. Blur at slower speeds is because of hand movement vis-a-vis lens length, not mirror slap.

Camera shake from the mirror would affect a tripod shot more than any other type of shot, since a tripod has more moving parts than a table.

  • Wow. Fantastic. My D200 would have embedded the penny in a wall!

  • @notoncemoreagain LOL And remember, the mirror on this camera is 2 1/2 times bigger than a 35mm.

  • Looks like 4 Hassy owners can't handle the truth. ;)

  • If anything, it's probably the sheer weight that's damping the mirror slap so much. Don't get me wrong, I love my 645 pro, but I'd love it even more if it shed an ounce or two.

  • @frogsoda I would trade cameras... if you get tired of having a nice camera.

  • Great camera, a really nice alternative to the hassleblad, as what i just think is, when you are paying more and more for a film camera. You are basically just paying for a higher quality hole for the light to pass through.

  • I used and owned several medium format cameras including a Bronica SQA, a Mamiya 645 1000s and my FAV a Hasselblad 500 CM, frankly apart from some features and of course the format the Mamiya more than held its own and was an excellent camera. I think anyone knocking the 1000's or another Mamiya 645 has never tried one !
