"Main Aurr Mrs .Khanna" is the story of three people, Raina, Samir and Akash. Samir (Salman Khan) and Raina(Kareena kapoor) are two individuals who fall in love with each other and move their base to Australia for a better living. Within a year Samir gets into the position to make his decisions and crack big deals for the company, however one wrong decision changes his winning streak and bankrupts the company resulting in Samir being given the pink slip. Not being able to find another job forces Raina to take up a job as a waitress in a restaurant to keep the fire burning in the kitchen.

Frustration creeps in and results in Raina and Samir arguing on practically everything. Samir with the help of his close friend decides to move out of the city into a new country for better prospects.

On one hand its Samirs practicality, and on the other Rainas belief in Samir and herself, Samir believing that all a man needs is success to lead a beautiful life and Raina thinks its the courage, love and support that makes life beautiful.

On a journey to an unknown country, unknown city, Samir and Raina board the taxi to the International Airport taking off and saying goodbye to the city that gave Samir grief and Raina her first job, but Samir had some different plans for Raina on reaching the airport. Raina realizes that she is going back to India as Samir expresses his helplessness of not being able to take Raina along. Devastated and stunned Raina is numb and static and realizes its time to part ways for maybe some days or a couple of months or may be a year. Samir hands over the ticket for Delhi to Raina and takes the flight to her destination . Raina decides that she is not boarding the flight and staying back and to her rescue comes Akash, suave good looking and flirtatious Akash helps Raina get a job and an apartment. Akash is a Bar tender working in the International Airport. Raina is an eye candy for Akash and since she is married he feels no harm in having an affair. Thus the story of lush and harmless affair clashes with Rainas belief in Samir and his coming back as a successful man.

Akash and Raina start getting closer as friends, she starts sharing her problems with Akash about her relationship with Samir so much that she gives her ears to Akash on the question that, is Samir the right man in her life? Akash begins to fall in love with Raina decides to confess his love for Raina, knowing that this could make his friendship turn into companionship or lose a friend for life. But the story once again takes a turn as before Akash could confess his love for Raina, Samir comes back, successful and confident. Samir is back to tell Raina that how much he loves her and how much he wants her back. Rainas happy that the belief in her husband proved right she is happy and content to see him back but Samir does not find the same Raina that he left some months back. The city and its culture has made Raina an independent girl who can now speak her mind and maybe decide for herself too.

Samir is once again at crossroads this time is the doubt, the fear of maybe losing Raina forever.

Akash is also confused, looking at Samir, looking at his love for Raina and fearing that separating a man and a woman, is it the right thing? He finally realizes he has fallen in love with a woman who is married and maybe holds no future with him.
