Global Demonstrations for Tibetan Freedom
Chinese Consultate, New York City
Reverend Doctor Daughtry, a spokesperson from the National Religious Leaders of African Ancestry Concerned About Darfur, addressed Tibet supporters on 8.8.08, the day the Beijing 08 Summer Olympics began in China. Across from the Chinese Consulate in New York City, thousands of Tibetans gathered to voice their concerns about the ongoing human rights abuses in Tibet including unlawful arrests, detainment, beatings and torture of hundreds of Tibetan monks and nuns. Rev. Dr. Daughtry reminded Tibet supporters that China also continues to support an unlawful regime in Sudan where hundreds and thousands of people have been killed, with the support of China's investment and other foreign policies. China promised to improve its human rights abuses before the start of the Beijing 08 Summer Olympics. One world-one dream-free Tibet—save Darfur.
