Actually, he's priceless.
Meyerhoff also demonstrates the importance of practicing without stirrups (a bit of an understatement). He has commented on this ride (see text comments) saying
"This was his first Intermediate horse trials. He was more than ready. And I was quite confident he could do it. What I think happened was the horses cantered up the hill then when it was time to take off they then saw what was on the other side which caused a green horse to hesitate and loose their focus. Smooth Rider aka Odin saved us both. The rider in front of us fell and others before had problems. The fence was then removed. He got lots of cookies and kisses when we got home."

i gasped so loud when the horse almost fell! this truly is a million$ horse! any horse in his sane mind would have refused the next fence and any rider would have fallen on her face, so cudos to the rider! ive also never seen such and honest horse, not including my pony cuz if i mess up he just keeps on going and honestly when i was just learningi would bring him up to a 3ft fence at like almost a walk and he would clear in without me telling him to, hes 13`2!
really is a very special horse. the more credible explanation is that the horse learned natural horsemanship by giving you freedom. instinctive is a horse with only 2 seconds of time decided to do to save the fall. is a horse with experience. take care of it
