Willie The Lion Smith is one of the three giants of Harlem Stride piano with James P. Johnson and Fats Waller, beginning his career in the 20'.
I don't know about copyright, I put it here only for musical tribute to this great man. If it's not allowed just send me a mail and I will remove these movies...

Did Willie The Lion Smith or Fats Waller ever perform "big noise from Winnetka" ?

Without a doubt the first rapper.

My granddad used to whistle this tune all the time "hot ginger and dynamite!"

Yeah, Willie really smokes on "Nagasaki" on that Berlin show. And his version of "I Found a New Baby", monstrous! That left hand literally cries out, "Get out of my way, Ima' comin' through!"
Willie was such a monster! Great pianist, great composer.

Really love this take of Nagasaki, not quite like the version from Berlin but still great.
