@consistentbass Just think of this brother, you dont have opposing musles on the other leg to counter act the movement of the pelvis to the side! Also, Glute max works harder to extent so its abduction role is minimized.

@rkumara You can often with these people do squats against a wall with a swissball in their back! You use your Gluteus medies in a squat! But more in 1-legged work like lunges. Gluteus medius is also an external rotation AND flexor/extensor in a very smalle way though. To facilitate Gluteus medius, you can lunge with your hands above head, this awakens a Gluteus medius that is inhibited.

I would like to know:
How is the muscle affected by having one leg crossed?
How would the gluteus medius be affected if both legs are on the ground?
What are other more intense exercises for the gluteus medius?
Thanks

oh ok thanks! yeah I walk 3 miles every day 5 days a week, but instead of loosing weight i gain weight because of all the muscle.. and if i dont excersice i get all gigly.. gosh can i just be flat out skinny!! haha
thanks for the lesson though :)
the non-weightbearing glute med is being tested slightly during this exercise. this exercise might be too low level for you or you may be doing it incorrectly. Try squeezing through the all glutes as you lift and keep you hips level as you go up and down. You should probably have someone qualified watch you and suggest a more difficult exercise as well.

Squats work the extensors of the hip such as gluteus maximus. Gluteus medius is a abductor and internal rotator of the hip. It's a little more difficult to train or strengthen appropriately, especially when an individual has an injury. Even if squats would help, many can't do squats because of knee or lower back injuries.
