Fluorescent Light Melody!

Inspired by a comment vwestlife made on one of my videos, I recorded the sounds old style fluorescent tubes are making - these fixtures are from the late 60s!
Sorry for the poor quality, this was recorded on my mobile phone (yes, even DrCassette has a mobile phone :P )

Well, a well known sound to me. My Dad has some installed from the late 70s. Never changed the ballast, the starters once in a blue moon. They virtually never break so they get next to none maintenance. Heck, I even never paid attention that the sound of newer fixtures might have changed.

Interesting! They could be called "musical" fluorescent lights. The reverb in the room made it sound eerie and sci-fi like.

Those starters can make some interesting noises when they fire up, especially if there are multiple lights installed on one area.
