Ferro Lad was supposed to be African American but DC was to concerned that they would lose readers in the south, so Jim Shooter had him killed off because he was not allowed to make the character in the way he intended.

Season two is already paid for and in production [I think]. They wrote season 1 so it could be self-contained but I think next season Supes will be more like the adult Superman rather than the not-Superboy/Superboy that we got this season.
Also, McDonalds is doing a tie in for Happy Meals in September and Mattel should be releasing action figures around the same time or maybe a little later in the year.
