Mit einer Boeing 777 der Austrian Airlines ins Land des Lächelns

Ideales Wetter, mittlere Temperaturen und eine gut gelaunte Crew - Fritz Strahammer, Chefpilot der Austrian Airlines, Tareq Siddiqui und Karl Trattner als First Officers. So startet die neue Folge aus der PilotsEYE.tv-Reihe - in den Fernen Osten. Der Start ist aus drei Perspektiven zu sehen aus dem Cockpit heraus, als Begleitung neben der Landebahn und aus dem Tower. Nach wenigen Minuten wird vom Wiener Luftraum an Bratislava Control weitergegeben und nach kurzer Zeit bereits weiter an den russischen Luftraum. Nach den endlosen Wäldern der Taiga geht es aufs Japanische Meer hinaus und mit einem Blick auf den Fuji-san an der Ostküste entlang nach Tokio. Unterwegs schiebt sich eine Lufthansa-Maschine langsam unter unseren Cockpitfenster langsam vor. Im Hintergrund die russische Ostküste.

@presstrigga that would be totally crazy. I mean if you do it at cruise speed as the airplane would be destroyed in seconds because of the inmense drag.

The are some rare situations where you could do that but allways under landing gear speed limit far below normal cruise speed.

This might sound kinda dumb, but I'm new at the whole airplane thing. Can't pilots just leave the wheels down when flying in the air at cruising altitude? What will happen if they left the landing gear all the way through the whole flight?
