6-27-08 Storm in Omaha

So there was a big storm made it's way through Omaha. Not a tornado, but winds that were very strong. One of our neighbors got powerlines ripped out of his house leaving a hole 3+ feet in diameter. When it happened there was a loud explosion right across the steet from us. Another neighbor had a huge tree uprooted and is now laying on their house.
Winds were clocked at 80+ miles per hour.

Great footage! We're near Joslyn Castle (40th & Dodge) and its a war zone here. Massive 100 yr old trees uprooted, wires down all over. My son got video (soon to be on YouTube!) of cars driving across live wires, while they were sparking and popping. The mess is incredible. Sounds like a lumberjack camp with all the chainsaws in this neighborhood. Thanks for the video!

yeah it was crazy. We had a couple dozen downed trees in our neighborhood, and it was nice we have a couple people that run lawn services, so they brought in equiptment and we all just kinda helped everyone out getting everything cleared out.

We had an EF4 tornado here around my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!

If this was the storm last summer that had hail. bad wind gusts. and all that good stuff. i live in Omaha right off of 83rd and Maple. Was crazy...practically had a river in my back yard and our street was flooded to the top of a bumper of a car. Man those are the storms that are like the best ones!

WOW! Awesome video! I'm over in Olde Towne Bellevue and we were without power for over 27hrs! Could be worse though I suppose. Kinda strange too, being that this is the craziest season Omaha has had with tornadoes and all. Makes you think, what's next!!?
