Yes.. you are correct, I believe she landed low on that last pass and as a result injured herself.
-
actually, she injured her ankle performing the double pike in her last pass, when she landed low.
-
When did Oana retire ? And why ? She was only competiting internationally for 2 or 3 years and i loved her gymnastics!
-
Actually, as far as I know, she injured herself on the whip-whip-flick-double pike. She landed it way short and turned her ankle. Unless she'd already injured it beforehand.
-
True. It was just a mix-up in my head. And yes, it did cost her badly.
-
No she didnt: Oana did a double Arabian as her third pass on floor, and it cost her the rest of her Olympics, as she injured her ankle landing it. Oanas floor passes at Athens were double layout, full-in, double Arabian and double pike. No double front though.

Oana Ban perormed a HUGE double front (in combination, too) at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Check out her routine from the team finals, it's cracking!

I believe that's the first time I've ever seen a Romanian gymnast attempt a double front. They don't have a history of front tumblers!
