A showreel of experimental animation I, and others in our group, made for an Experimental and Alternative Animation project at University.
1st Silhouette animation in the style of Lotte Reiniger. I (Dan) made the backgrounds with tracing paper, Chris the silhouette characters and Steph the storyboarding.
2nd This was a silhouette project I worked on to explore the silhouette animation process in more detail. I made all the character silhouettes, backgrounds and the story (or the adaptation!). The music is from Archive.org
3rd Robert Breer style animation; I dont endorse his style of animation! i.e. I dont like it! Did this as a solo project.
4th Direct Animation (with tea leaves). Me & Steph had some cheap Tesco Value teabags, and we just chucked the tea leaves onto a light-box, and made an image with them, and animated it. We found that although it could prove difficult animating characters, elements such as clouds and fire were particularly effective.
5th Mixing Media This was a pretty fun project. We mixed different styles of animation together, hence the title. Shaun Shadow is, obviously me, ClayBoo is Stephs character, the model Mondeo car belongs to me, and the backgrounds are form my short film Velvet Forest that I made in my A-levels. The real-life objects (the model & ClayBoo) were filmed in front of a green screen, and was then keyed out in Adobe Premiere.
6th Pixellation (animating real-life objects). This involved basically using real objects (in our case, food), and animating them to make a story. Me, Steph & Chris worked on this. I made the title Shreddie Orphans, and we jointly animated it.
And I think that is it! Hope you like it!
