You take risks too when you enroll in college. Have you looked at the graduates rates of your average college students ? Given the over 50 percent of college students will eventually dropped out of colege, their is a good chance that you will not graduate. Even when you graduate, there is no gaureetee that you will find a jobs. I rather take a business risks like selling your cookies to the public than graduate college without a job and with mountains of debt.

NO you do not neccessarily, because i know many people who dropped out of college and never even step a foot in one and turned out to be quite successful accomplished men and women of society. Some people just have booksmarts and earning a degree is just like a stamp that says you've been approved in your acquired knowledge in the wherefore subject area. Like a drivers license somewhat, i'm sure you could drive a car without attaining one, but the is license is a validated of what others view..

No adays you need a fucking goddamn degree to get a job at walmart, mcdonalds and shit. I wish I could find a great paying job without one.

Actually I'm LIVING PROOF that you don't need college to earn a decent living.
I took a civil service test (only high school diploma required) in 2003, and now I got a job as a NYC subway train operator.
My base salary is $66,674, but there are so many extras ("bonus time", "deadhead time", etc) that regularly boost my annual salary to over 70K for only 40hrs work.
If I put in the amount of hours the average corporate drone does I would easily earn six figures.

@MrGlendoncameron Wonder what jobs they have, if they dont have a degree. You gave no specifics.

I'll never graduate from college. The only way I can quit schooling is to get at least bachelor's degree. If I dropout, my parents and relatives will send me to hell.
Luck is for suckers, risk is for the brave at heart. This luck you describe was actually people breaking open new markets, ideals, products. Look at the Iphone, there were millions of phones out there and this phone took the world by storm, why it was a new innovation. As for telling an employer needing to see a degree, over 75 percent of the people in Silcon Valley do not have a degree where the average income is $70K....

@MrGlendoncameron I don't disagree. The tech field though is still relatively young so having a degree isn't as important right now. The reason I mentioned "luck" is because we rarely if ever hear about the people who have failed to be successful.
The iPhone didn't take off because it was a new innovation. It took off because people wanted to have music on their phones. Nokia had done this before along with other companies.
