No! Marriage between cousins has nothing to do with Islam. And the average risk of birth defects in a child born of first cousins is only 1% higher than non-cousin couples (same as a woman over 40 years old). Many famous non-Muslims married their cousins! I hate Islam, but me and my cousin love each other.

But I don't aprove of systematic cousin marriages that Muslims do.

By the way, I don't believe in "marriage" either, it's just that two adults want to live together. People should respect each other's dignity, autonomy and free agency. The concept of "marriage" has religious roots.
