This is my attempt at a musical style for Tom Francis' upcoming Gunpoint. I've tried to incorporate styles that i'm comfortable with but which also apply to the game's overall theme, hopefully it isn't too busy (or quiet!). I was really drawn to the atmosphere on the first level presented in the trailer, so I used that as a starting point and sculpted the music around the idea of isolation and, at times, tranquility. Not sure if that's the best thing to do in this situation, but it's worth a shot.

Regardless of the result, i'm really looking forward to the finished game, it's shaping up to be an insanely fun experience.

  • I've taken a lot on board, but i'm hesitent to re-submit out of fairness to other potential composers. To be honest, i'm not a fan of seeing the same people resubmit 2, 3 "improved" versions of their idea in the comment thread, i'm really enjoying hearing what other people are coming up with.

  • Thanks for all the feedback thus far, it's much appreciated!

  • I just want to say that I really do enjoy this. You made the music respond to situations and menus which is great. Personally, I believe the music fits the game perfectly toward the beginning of the game. Around the 5 minute mark it gets a little too relaxing for the genre of game. The on;y other thing is that I was expecting the music to change to something a bit more "electronicky" for the power wiring section. Other than that, the music is really good and amazing. Perfect setting the mood.

  • Without having listened to the other submissions... If this actually was the level music in the finished game and I didn't know you made it. I would be alright with it, I think it fits.

  • @sinbindinchin @CinderblockTV Guys, lets not be arses over this. I appreciate feedback from both sides of the court, it's all good in the long run. The tricky thing is striking the right balance. To start with, it's rather difficult to gauge how subtle or overpowering the music is without getting a second opinion, which is the reason i'm extremely grateful for you folk taking the time to voice your own thoughts.

  • @CinderblockTV

No need to be cunt about it.

The pace of the music does not perfectly fit the flow of whats happening, too much is going on with the music at points, in the words of the uploader "too busy", it kind of clashes. Its not the style at fault, but this particular composition. My main issue with it is that it detracts from the potential atmosphere of the game, it could be so much more, but it isn't, its imperfect hence a lot of room for improvement.

Because electro-smooth jazz does not fit a a game about fururistic inflitration.

  • music isn't bad at all, but i don't think it quite suits the game

  • This really sets the mood for this game. It makes me relaxed but focused.

  • This sounds amazing Ben. So far my favorite.

  • Looks so fun
