Just a short little clip of a 3/4 completed walking object. Works like Theo Jansen's kinetic sculptures.

  • get it to work before you make a video

  • Sorry, didn't realize that this was your disk space I was using.

  • i say it´s totally wrong!

  • You're right! I didn't build it with enough precision for it to ever work. Pretty good for an afternoon I'd say!

  • haha i love your replys to that dooshbags :D

  • @fookthefrench Didn't appear to have an issues to me. Seems like it would walk fine

  • What is it made from ?

  • what did you use to make this?

  • 4 if you only want it to walk straight is good, but for the wheels to not need syncing (constant ground contact, what you need for turning), you need 12 legs

  • That's not what I meant, but yeah I deserved that

    Cheers

  • I built a version in Geometer's Sketchpad after seeing that on a youtube video, with variable parameters for the width of the driving cog/crankshaft, spacing of the 'hips', and length of the 'bones' coming from the hip.

It's pretty finnicky to even get a gait going, so good job!

  • I think you did it right. You just need more legs. It's not working because it was designed to work with multiple legs, I would say at least six. Otherwise, it looks like you got the proportions and design right.
