This is a song I wrote back in '97 when my family and I were living at a homeless shelter called H.E.L.P. Suffolk in Bellport, NY. I'd just started writing more accomplished songs and this wasn't hard to write while suffering our own indignities and practically drowning in that of those around us; though I often ended up living out of a car and at times unemployed I avoided all welfare for ten years of my adult life, but by 08 it became necessary to take 'the plunge' again and it was sad to see very little had changed, and really none for the better. Upon my last visit I noticed that every square inch of the exterior of the Santa Monica DPSS building is covered in 3/4" thick slabs of polished marble - we're the freeloaders, us? So I decided to dust off a pissed off 'high school classic'. And it just so happened I'd decided to experiment with the idea of shooting a no-budget video, and due to actually having the junk 'drum kit' on hand for this song, picked it for the project; and here it is.

If you like the song, you can download it for free here - do me a favor and give me a play while you're at it, though! All of us poor broke musicians, reduced to click whores! ;-). http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9598961
