The Captain is the sole and final person responsible for the operation of his aircraft. Thats why he was praised. He made the call to put it down in water and he flew the plane. He was also the last one out of it after he made SURE everyone else got out.

shut up jm. the co-pilot was probably cleaning himself after he shit his pants. im just kidding but seriously. they gave credit to the crew dumbass. watch the news. and the most credit goes to the person who landed it on the water. if the co-pilot was flying at the time he would have gotten the credit.

It's a great story that everyone survived. Sully did a great job but that's all he did was his job. It's not like he put himself in danger to save someone else, he just did his job and it happened to work out.
