when she did her concert tour in 1997 she said how she was so embarrased to have sang this song on the awards show as she completely messed u the top note ate the end. Doesnt sound that bad to me!!! x

I normally love Ruthie Henshall but to me, her very quirky and lock-jawed smile interpretation of this song are a bit much for me. She starts off strong and even at the end, when she hit the wrong note, she still sold it....but nonetheless, I still say Barbara Cook owns this one.

I remember this performance. Love Ruthie Henshall, and was fortunate to see her in She Loves Me at the Savoy with John Gordon Sinclair not long after, it was fantastic (plus we had a friend in the show who played the waiter). Ruthie has an incredible voice.

She can most definitely hit that note, she is just under in this performance of it. Like in the comment by jamesicoburn, Henshall was completely aware of the fact that she messed it up lol. She's still amazing no matter what (:

So, I hate to say this, but I find Ruthie's portrayal of Amalia to be a tad annoying. HOWEVER. There's a lot of great acting going on in this video, and Ruthie has a gorgeous voice (as always), so I'm really torn on whether or not I like it.
