ZHANG:
In today's Market Report... Asian stocks are down after a warning from General Motors about bankruptcy drove Wall Street shares to 12-year lows yesterday.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei fell sharply to a four-month low, while its broader index hit a 25-year low as well. Shares in major exporters and banks also fell.
Despite some technology share gains in the region, Sydney and Seoul markets also fell.
Chinese markets, however, fell as short-term speculators took profits on the previous gains this week.
