9/30/08 In an interview with Katie Couric on CBS, Sarah Palin once again demonstrates her extreme and out-of-touch anti-choice views on contraception her opposition to protecting access to abortion-care for rape or incest survivors.

  • Palin speaks as if pro-life vs. pro-choice is a personal, moral choice - which it is - but in the end she's implied she's against legal abortions. I don't take issue with her opinions but I DO take issue with her desire to impose those opinions on my body and the bodies of perfect strangers.

And I'm sorry, but she sounded entirely ignorant in regards to the morning-after pill. For someone with such a strong stance on abortion and the right to choose, that ignorance is simply unacceptable.

  • I wonder if Sarah Palin would be unapologetic about a 16-year special needs child who is vulnerable to rape/incest and gets raped. Seriously, which side would Palin take, the special needs who is mentally incompetent and doesn't realize what is growing inside of her body that does not belong in her, or the life of the unborn child?

  • but, she clearly misunderstands what the morning after pill is, which is probably the result of listening almost exclusively to what fellow pro-lifers have to say about the pill, instead of actually doing her research. TMAP is not an abortiion pill, there are abortion pills available for women and this isn't one of them. Conception takes several days after sex. TMA is just another pill that you can use to prevent conception, except this one is more effective a few days after the condom breaks.

  • While I am pro-choice myself, I did not find her views extreme at all. She is against prosecution, she is for helping to reduce abortions and help women dealing with a traumatic situation. Remember, there are those that are raped that are initially pro-life and have internal conflict over abortion, counciling might not be bad for those individuals. She doesn't seem to prioritize abortion compared to other problems of the state. BUT...

  • The only culture Sarah promotes is a culture of stupidity! Stupid Sarah stay out of my pants!

  • Her view is liberal and controversial.Contraception is wrong!Period!

  • Cases of rape/incest account for less than 1.5 percent of all abortions. (from "Reasons U.S. Women Have Abortions: Quantitative and Qualitative Perspectives" in Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health )

I'm not saying that it's not important or that I don't have sympathy for those who have been raped, but the vast majority of abortions are not due to rape.

  • you know what i think i think people should stay out of other peoples life and let them live thier lives if its not about you than stay out of it its the land of the free so let people be free to live if thier gay let them its not like thier messin with you if they have a diffrent belief who cares let them believ it whats america comming to if people cant be free

  • "dehumanize certain stages of developement" that is what you are doing to women. they arnt dependant on someones body for their survival nor are they living an invasive existence. yet you feel they have less rights to their body than a dependant fetus does. outlawing abortion makes women into incubators. there is no right to be inside me against my will EVER. i have bodily sovereignty. if i cant be free in my own skin, i cant be free anywhere.

  • War kills thousands of our own soldiers as well, do you even bother to try to think this out logically? Evidently not.

  • And yet that constitutional "right to life" of her "unborn child" infringes on HER right to her own body, NOT the other way around.

PS the constitution clearly says, "no one BORN in the United States", it says nothing about the unborn, hmm, I wonder why?
