  • My sachs dmf had a sudden death today, going WOT and bang... noisy as hell. I already expected this because the last month I heard a little rattle when cornering and shutting down the engine. it did 120000km (approx 80000kms with ~470Nm) I think it's not really bad for that mileage and aggresive setup. I've got an ibiza pd 130 BLT with hybrid turbo and R783 injectors.Solid flywheel would be a solution but I don't like the noise with the 6speed gearbox...

  • Crap....install a valeo solid conversion. Sooooo many problems with a two peice flywheel....what a lame idea that was. Solid flywheels have worked good for 100 years....why change a good thing?

  • I had a DMF in my TDI VW Transporter van. It was crap. It used to shudder at times unpredictably. It's pressure plate was weak causing the clutch to slip excessively, so I replaced it with a conventional Single Mass Flywheel and clutch kit. The small amount of play shown in this clip is normal, but any more than that isn't, and when mine was removed it had twice that amount of play. There are simply too many parts in a DMF, each of which can go wrong.

  • THESE ARE RUBBISH fit a conventional clutch

  • Uuhm! thats why normal TDi's dont brake gearboxes with normal driving

  • i have a feeling mine is dieing,

time to go see a mechanic, i have a 2.0 tdi and sometimes when engine is idling you can hear a bit of ticking/rattling noise on each rev and if you're really sensitive you can feel that engine starts to swing/vibrate a little at the same time, increase revs by just a tiny bit and it disappears - is it the dmf or should i start to worry about smth else?

  • Throw it in the bin and fit a solid one.

  • Arrrhhhh so that the thing that brakes when a bit of clutch dust get inside and then cost and arm and a leg for a new one!

  • At 230,000 miles mine had about double that much play in it

  • Yup, normal.
