@chhmar99utube I was on September 26 1971 , so I was just a toddler during the Khmer Republic period and I'm not even a Khmer but a Malaysian . I learned a bit about this period from "Surviving The Killing Fields : The Cambodian Odyssey" written by the late Dr Ngor Samnang Haing . This is the first time I watch the actual footages of "Black Papa" Lon Nol and Prince Sirik Matak Sarik and others . Their rule were much much better if compared to Pol Pot's Les Khmer Rouge .

interesting to see the republican stupa at 4:45 again. it was built opposite the royal palace and commemorate the declaration of the Republic. Like many other students of my generation i was one drafted for the parade on that day. the stupa has been blown up when Pol Pot entered Phnom Penh.
