@docsein1 Iran has Russian-made aircraft and air defense systems. They also have ballistic missiles from North Korea that can strike Eastern Europe. Syria has Russian guns. So if you're saying that selling arms and other types of military hardware has geopolitical ramifications, then I don't see why you're not condemning what I just pointed out.
Just saying
-
@docsein1 A country can sell arms to any country it wants, assuming that the buyer is not under an embargo. Iran and Syria supplying arms to Hezbollah and Hamas is another story.
-
@docsein1 Now, we've gotta train the Afghan Army and Police to fight terrorists and ensure that the country has stability. I think we've done good in this respect.
-
@docsein1 Actually, Iraq is now experiencing democracy. It may be years until they can finally live in harmony, as there's still daily attacks by jihadists and other extremists. Afghanistan, I don't know about. The country is extremely poverty-stricken and war torn. They were in Civil War, even before NATO invaded. I honestly wish we could do something to help Afghanistan, with regards to poverty. Like with Iraq, we kicked out a terrible government, and gave them something much better.
-
@docsein1 If NATO was trying to encircle Russia, then we'd be trying to factor China into the equation.
-
@docsein1 It would've been a strategic point during the 1980s, but not now. Some of the former Soviet Republics stand in the way, and Poland doesn't share a border with the mainland of Russia.
-
@docsein1 1. Only 2 countries in Europe have nuclear weapons: Britain and France 2. They don't have large stockpiles. 3. These aren't pointed at anyone.
Better relations between the U.S., NATO, and Russia can be achieved, but it won't be easy. And Russia would have to do their part.
I wouldn't have a problem with a Russian missile defense shield in Central America, since nothing would be pointed at us. Iran has been placing ICBMs in Venezuela, but that's a different story.

I'm Canadian, but Chinese by birth. What about you?
I try to see things from many sides. But I've found that the most useful tools are LOGIC, and COMMON sense.
People can say all sorts of things on TV and in the news, but if it makes no sense, and isn't rational, I tend to ignore it.

Well, these kind of things are difficult to say. Military strength comes from many factors:
Technology, the reliance on technology, manpower, quality, force multipliers, leadership, asymmetric warfare capabilities, and MANY other aspects that are not part of the military, but is essential in its function and effectiveness.
So I find it kinda meaningless to speculate on such things.
Long live Russia and Poland without Amerucan missiles!

@bonkersblock How has Russia ever threatened with nuclear war?? stop watching hollywood movies, travel and study more! Russia lost 27 million people in WWII, in all history it has never started a war, their military is not even designed to be offensive Are they a threat because they dropped a bomb on Haroshima Nagasaki? are they a threat because they burnt innocent women and children with napalm bombs in vietnam, are they a threat because they instigated a war in Afghanistan?who is the threat?
