This is the culmination of a lot of reading, trial and error and help from the folks over at http://www.insanelymac.com/

Hardware specs:

Intel Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe
8 Gigs OCZ DDR2 RAM
2x500 Seagate HD's
2xBFG 9600GT video cards
LG DVD+-RW
2xDell 2209WA LCD
1xWestinghouse L2410NM LCD

Functions exactly like a Mac (Sleep from Apple menu, Energy Saver sleep, Restart, Shutdown all work). Full QE/CI on both 9600GT's. Also dual booting with Windows 7 and Hacked SLI drivers.

  • New setup now runs a Q8300 with an ATI 5770 with 3 displays. The dual 9600GT wasn't SLI in OSX just Windows 7 (modded drivers on an Xfire board).

  • how difficult are the hacked SLI drivers?

  • @conor1148 pretty easy (compared to DSDT editing for SL), there's a web article on how to get them set up however it can only be used with sepcific driver releases.

  • @conor1148 Yes it involved tricking the system to think I was on a x58 series board. Took a bit of trial and error but the instructions were easy enough to follow and figure out. The benefit was to be able to dual boot, have triple screens and be able to play some games.

  • I've got this same board running 10.5.5 right now...what install method did you go with for SL?

  • @stizzco boot123 cd and the retail installer. Patched with a few kext files and the rest is all working OOB

  • never seen sli and 3 monitors on a hackintosh.thats a sweet system dude.

  • @surrealillusion Awesome, so say im pretty good with doing this kinda stuff, but far from great. would i be overwhelmed?

  • @surrealillusion did you use the crack off that german (or was it russian?) site? the one that wasnt quite a "driver" but it fooled your chipset into thinking it was a x58 or something?

  • @surrealillusion ah cool, nice setup tho ! that sli hack is awesome !
