Stop "n" Go Drill
Work on this drill to associate the correct swing path, If you come over the top, you have a dissassociation to the correct move and will get stuck.

  • Thanks guys for your comments, this drill cured the students 'over-the-top' move, I will post up to date swing when she comes in. Suzanne

  • Interesting tip, I have been struggling with a quick transition at the top and have been hitting alot of pull hooks. I will try this drill and see how it works. I am really trying to hold off the hands and create lag, but still struggle at getting too quick with the hands.

There is a very common issue for most golfers, as you have discovered. There are plenty of drills and cure's for this, i have found in my experience that constant slow and deliberate swings using mirrors to reinforce what you feel is actually what you are doing works best. Do not hit many balls, you need to train the correct positions first then take it too the range with small pitch shots first.

  • That's great that the drill cured her over the top move. BUT, it is not caused by an over active right side. Ben Hogan said he wished that he had 3 right sides so he could hit is harder. She should feel from the top that she keeps her back to the target and swings just her arms as fast as she can to get them back in front of her and let the body react to that. That will create maximum speed and effortless sequence.

  • That's not going to bae a long term cure. If you watch your 2 videos. The ball hit swing Her C6 or shoulder's center point moves down over the ball in a slightly out of balance potion. She then rotates around that spot with a shoulder motion and no hip motion.... Why becuase her body is out of balance and her hips can't and won't move forward first. That is the key motion to hit from the inside. The hips pushing under will tilt the top of the spine back. Rt shoulder will drop down over rt foot

  • Really good video idea putting the two swings side by side to compare correct vs incorrect. I'm a very beginner golfer and I've been slicing terribly to the right and after hours of watching videos, I'm looking forward to taking tips like these out to the range. Great Video. Only critical comment I have is to fine tune the audio a bit for clarity. :)
