  • Frank LaForge on the Piano was my Great Grandfather...this was nice to find!!

  • Bjorling loved to sing this one as an encore in Recitals and did a great job also with it. Crooks had a fine career and was underrated because he was American in a time when it was more the " in thing" to be European but we had so many great singers also.

  • Fabulous !

  • Richard Crooks, clearly one of the most beautiful sounding tenors of his time in an era of great tenors.

I think he was just a little bit underrated in his own time and certainly, today.

A regular at the "met" but i don't think he had along operatic career. I think it was cut short by illness. Although he continued to sing very well up to the time of his death I stand to be corrected on this point.

  • Surprised that no one has responded to this so far. This is not an easy song to sing unless you just belt it out. Crooks performs it with a sensitive variety of tone and volume. His sustained piano singing demonstrates marvellous control - a sensitive rending indeed. Few could equal this.
