At McQueen, white softened the image of the House and at Sophie Theallet, white was a synonym for peace. White can also be extremely minimalist like at Chloé and as shown by the Queen of Purity herself, Phoebe Philo for Céline.

White, often a very popular choice for summer, was proffered as an option for evening wear as much as it was for day dressing. There was also a lot of unisex white in masculine-feminine versions : several designers interpreted this with an onslaught of pant suits...After white, a major change of tone took place and colours took charge.

It was impossible to avoid them this season. Bright, energetic colours invaded our wardrobes. Red and orange took the main stage, as a total look or by mixing one with the other, these colours weren't afraid of a little clashing. Hot pink also took the upper hand this season, and this is not a shade for wall flowers, because everyone is going to notice you in it. Lemon yellow also made its fair share of appearances, impossible to miss once it veered towards neon.

It modernised and brought a quirky twist to some very classic outfits. Another colour on show was green, also appearing in some very punchy tones. And the final primary colour, blue, played its part in the summer shades, for hippy chic style at Missoni and glamour chic at Matthew Williamson. If you're finding it hard to choose between the endless possibilities, go for the multicolour option, rainbow-style, and there is no possibility that you will go unnoticed!
