  • Ma made such a fine, and beautiful speech at the 2006 LGBT rally in Taipei. I was truly impressed. And now, to back-pedal on such an important human rights issue? I am very, very disappointed.

  • Taiwan is a really gay country and Taipei is the GAYEST city i have ever lived in, and I have lived in "gay" cities like Vancouver. The violence and hatred directed at homosexuals in the west is very rare here. The difficulty in Taiwan comes with family pressure to have a traditional family which leads to very obvious gay behavior but closed lips. Legalizing gay marriage here (for which most Taiwanese dont care either way) would do a lot to help this.
