A slew of vehicle safety systems are being showcased by Mercedes-Benz. The German premium car maker has created an Experimental Safety Vehicle, the ESF 2009 which is based on the upcoming S400 Hybrid. It is their first vehicle of this nature since the ESV 24 which was introduced at the 1974 Geneva Motor Show

  • I'm so glad that Daimler got rid of Chrysler when they had the chance. Daimler knew that Americans would not pay more for better engineered cars so they got rid of that bag of trash real quick.

  • lets see some demonstrations please!

  • obama she get this MB

  • so, I can see the front of this car going directly into the side window of my Chery QQ.. now the bag gets inflated and the car is elevated the bumper will hit directly into my face

  • yes but do you know how much more expensive the car is? A larger portion of people are going to be buying economy cars such as the prius (don't quote me on this if is said it wrong about it being an economy car). MB is mostly for the rich people. I don't like em.

  • Do you think a PRIUS has safety technology a Mercedes-Benz vehicle doesn't? It's called Distronic Plus with Pre-Safe Brake, and it's available on a large majority of M-B models in NA.

  • i think that its Volvo XC60 that has sensors which record anything thats happening around the vehicle. also when going 15km/h or less in trafic and if you get ocupied with something else while car in front of you stopps, the car enters a full breaking mode and stopps imidietly. honda also has night vision.

  • so to wrap this up the only awesome idea i found in this cars safety is the under airbag skid plate.

  • ok some great ideas here but far from practical. The side door inflation isn't necessary. That is why you put two reinforced tubes inside the door structure. How about car collision compatibility? Acura has already done this with their ACE system. Another feature found inside the prius is a radar like detector. If it detects a car to close it immediately calibrates the breaks so they are more tense when breaking. ESA is also a key feature as well.

  • cool

  • who wants to buy me 1
