Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap was my favourite game for the Sega Master System and so when I saw this obscure gem crop up on the Wii's Virtual Console I had to download it to see how it compared with the classic original.
It's brilliant, rather like a re-mastered or deluxe version of the original as the graphics are nicer to look at and the scrolling is much smoother. The music and sound effetcs are also rather more funky. Well worth the 600 Wii points to download! :-)

This game brings back memories!! It was one of the better games TG 16 came out with. Thanks for posting.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE TURBO GRAFIX 16 GAMES!!! I USE TO PLAY THIS SHIT LATE NIGHT UNTIL THE CRACK OF DAWN!!!

I for one hated the artistic changes in some of the music and characters, but it does play a bit better. There's a great PC remake floating around for the hardcore fans.

Ya know, believe it or not, Shion was kept in this port. If you don't believe me, look at the Japanese box art for Monser World II: Dragon No Wana for Game Gear. See a resemblance to Shion's human form on the cover and the main character of Dragon's Curse's human form.If you do, good job! That's an amazing but startling, yet obvious realization eh?

Erm, no you needn't remind me - I already knew that. :-/

Must I remind you, that this game is actually pretty old, came out in 1991 on PC Engine.

I had this game on the game gear and loved it to bits. The game that introduced me to RPGs and non linear platforming. This version looks aces, but the game gear and master system game will always hold more nostalgia value for me.

The Turbo has a bunch of other platform RPGs like this too. Blood Gear, Exiles, and the Legend of Xanadu games are some examples.
