Showcases the combined effort that is part of modern anti-submarine warfare, in which fixed and rotary wing aircraft work in conjunction with destroyers and escorts to locate and destroy enemy submarines. Featured in the film is footage of the fleet Sonar School, Grumman S-2 Tracker and the Neptune P2V operating off of the aircraft carrier USS Randolph (CV-15), and the destroyers USS Sarsfield (DD-837), USS Blandly (DD-943) and USS Cony (DD-508), and the submarine USS Sirago (SS-485).

  • No P2V Neptune ever flew off a carrier. This is a Grumman S2F Tracker. I was on USS Randolph in 1967 when we stopped in Rota, Spain and picked up a P2V Neptune and ferried it back to the U.S. The wings were removed for transit.

  • Great ASW film! Narrated by the incomparable Alexander Scourbey. CVS-15 is the USS Randolph.

  • Very nice. Thanks.
