NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT | Gen. Colin Powell | PBS

General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) addresses the nation from the steps of the U.S. Capitol about the true meaning of Memorial Day during the critically acclaimed NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT. Seated behind him are members of the National Guard newly returned from Iraq and Afghanistan with their family members. The 2007 NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT airs live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on Sunday, May 27, 2007 from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET (check local listings).

When Colin Powell took the 5th Army Corps in Frankfurt Germany at Abrams Complex, I was in the change of command parade. Hindsight is 20/20 if I knew who he would become I would have went up and met him. That was 1986.
