Here is every single shot of Robocain from Robocop 2. I made this sequence for my fellow animators, as we are animating big, heavy robots.

  • I've always wanted to say this, but only now I've found right words.

I express my deep gratitude to creators of Robocain. It turned out really excellent. I mean, that every single components of Cain are perfect - well-thought-out, original design, full of detales, smooth and realistic animation and others. I've never saw such an interesting model of cyborg in other movies. It's just great. Also, Cain gave me nightmares since chilhood till nowadays (I'm 24). They're not as scary, as exciting :)

  • Munch better then any CGI ever!

  • Hey, regarding the mayor - this must be the one and only movie where the stereotypical 'black guy' didn't get killed!

  • I remember being ready to wet myself in the warehouse scene. Especially when the mayor is trying to sneak out at the end.

  • I consider Robocop 2 to be the pinnacle of stop motion, also, being made in 1990, the swan song.

CGI is, no doubt, a superior technique and can produce good results. The problem is, movies with machines these days are for kids. I'm thinking I, Robot or Real Steel. Therefore, the end result is going to look plastic, too colorful and not menacing at all.

  • COOL

  • And the welding arm was cgi
