Today is two hundred and fifty-five in the series. Today we will continue a series that focuses on the displays and decorations for Hinamatsuri or the Doll Festival in Japan.
Hinamatsuri is March 3rd. It is a very important holiday in Japan. It is not, however, a national holiday. It is sometimes called Girls' Day when translated. Really from mid-February families that have young girls will put out these dolls to honor their daughters. The displays can be very simple or very elaborate. Girls love to look at the pretty dolls and they are sometimes given small gifts on the 3rd.
There are many variations to the display of the dolls. Today we will make a pair of dolls that are heart-shaped to honor the romance of this holiday. This origami includes a baton for the Emperor to hold and a fan for the Empress.
I've literally just been sitting here for nearly an hour doing this as I didnt have origami paper so I had to do everything separately but I did it! Thank you so much for this video it's such a fun little thing to give to anyone thank you!:)
