The Diamond Firetail is present throughout the Australian continent, including Tasmania.

They have a very distinctive plumage: the head is light gray, black reins and red eyelid ring. It features a wide black band on the breast spotted with white. The upper parts are gray-brown with a red rump. The female differs from the male for the colors less pronounced chest, face and eyelid ring.

It feeds on seeds of canary seed, millet, white, panic, and niger seed lawns.

Its reproduction occurs during our winter, with temperatures around 20 degrees. Average of 3 or 4 broods per season with the help of nurses in captivity (White-rumped Munia).
